With Eurovision 2024 just hours away, what do we know already about the 2025 edition of the competition?

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will be the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Already ahead of the 2024 contest a number of countries have already started to announce plans for the next edition of the competition. Check out everything we know so far.

🇧🇪 Belgium

VRT will organise Belgian participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, as organisation rotates between RTBF and VRT. It was confirmed earlier this week that VRT will organise ‘Eurosong’ to select its entry, Eurosong was used in 2023 to select Gustaph with “Because of You”.

🇧🇦 Bosnia & Herzegovina

BHRT the public broadcaster of Bosnia & Herzegovina has spoken about thoughts of returning to the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time since 2016. In a Program Plan for 2024, the broadcaster outlined its hopes to return in 2025, however there are significant barriers to a return.

DR has confirmed that Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will be used to select the Danish entry for 2025. The final of the Danish selection will be held on March 1, ticket sales commenced earlier this week.

🇩🇪 Germany

In Germany, there may be changes to the broadcaster that is responsible for organising the nation’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. There have been reports that NDR which has organised participated since 1996 will hand over responsibility to MDR.

In addition, German media has reported that Stefan Raab who revitalised German fortunes in the contest in 2010, is pitching a new format involving multiple broadcasters:

🇽🇰 Kosovo

In a press release, RTK has confirmed that Festivali i Këngës në RTK will return for a second edition in 2025. But that’s not all – the broadcaster is planning to “soon submit its application to the EBU” to compete in Eurovision 2025.

🇲🇹 Malta

PBS has announced The Malta Eurovision Song Contest Music Exchange Camp 2024. The second edition of the camp aims to create songs to compete in the Maltese selections for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

🇲🇨 Monaco

TVMonaco launched on September 1, 2023 as the new public service broadcaster of Monaco. Earlier this year TV Monaco gained full membership of the European Broadcasting Union, meaning that they are eligible to compete for the first time since 2021. The Principality of Monaco allocated 100,000 Euros in the2022 budgettowards a return to the Eurovision Song Contest.

🇲🇪 Montenegro

In response to a public discussion regarding the Draft Program Production Plans (PP) for 2024, Montenegro’s national broadcaster, RTCG, stated it is looking at launching a new music festival. RTCG stated that this show could be used as a national selection for Eurovision 2025.

🇸🇲 San Marino

The San Marinese Secretary of State for Tourism, Federico Pedini Amati, has spoken about the nation potentially withdrawing from the Eurovision Song Contest. San Marino has failed to qualify for the Grand Final since 2021 with the San Marinese Government having funded its selection Una Voce per San Marino since 2022.

🇸🇰 Slovakia

RTVS of Slovakia had previously discussed in the Summer of 2024 its aim to return to Eurovision in 2025. However, following budget cuts the country which last participated in 2012, has stated it has no plans to compete in the contest in 2025.

🇸🇮 Slovenia

Mario Galunič, editor at RTVSLO, has drafted a document detailing the short term future of programming at the broadcaster. As part of this plan, EMA has been listed as a key part of their programme schedule going forward. It can therefore be assumed that a return to their selection show can be expected in 2025.

🇪🇸 Spain

RTVE, announced that Benidorm Fest will once again choose the Spanish entry for Eurovision. With this announcement, Spain has confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2025.

The broadcaster has confirmed that song submissions will open on May 20 and will close on October 10. Find out more below:
