  I am excited to join my peers in announcing that I have accepted a position as a Junior Member of Volume 99 of the Tulane Law Review. I cannot wait to dive into legal scholarship, one of the passions which drove me to attend law school in the first place.I also am very excited to have been offered a place as a Junior Member with the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Appellate Moot Court Team. Being almost entirely focused on tax, I never thought I would be interested in oral advocacy. However, arguing on was one of the most exciting things I have ever done. I know that Sally Stanley, Navya Kolli, and Brijan Kana and I will have a great time competing and hopefully perform well this coming year.

  This past year, I had the profound honor and privilege to join together with four other like-minded individuals and found the Tax Law Society at Tulane University Law School. I was humbled to be selected by my colleagues to serve as the founding President of the Society. Truly, this experience has been one of the highlights of my academic career.We formed the Tax Law Society in order to better serve the needs of students who are interested in tax law and to further the education and professional opportunities for those students. When the five of us sat down in the fall semester to draft our constitution, we never expected such success to follow. Within months of beginning operation, we had over 50 members join our Society, almost 10% of Tulane's law student population. We had several successful events this past semester, including sending five of our members to a national tax law conference in Washington, D.C. and hosting speakers from top tax LLM programs, the IRS, and nationally and locally renowned law firms. All of this within the first four months of becoming an official organization. We could not have had anywhere near the success we had without such an incredible founding executive board. Steven Cutler, Nicolas Prendes, Mary Muslow, and Annie Kerut put in countless hours and showcased wisdom and great decision-making while executing the vision we shared. I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication they showed this past year. Through their efforts, they have placed the Society in a position where it will continue to grow and better support our members in the future. Finally, I am excited to announce the recently elected executive board who will follow in our footsteps and ensure the Tax Law Society continues to grow and thrive in the year to come. I am confident that Felipe Pacheco, Casey Burke, Sarah Metzel, and Taylor Brown will prove to be competent and diligent leaders. And, of course, they are fortunate Mary Beth Muslow will be remaining on and adding her knowledge to their efforts.I wish them the best and I know they will make our fledgling Tax Law Society proud. I am excited to see what all they accomplish next year.

  Last week, I and several other Tax Law Society members had the incredible experience of attending the Federal Bar Association’s annual Tax Law Conference at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. We met some very knowledgeable lawyers from the IRS, DOJ, and from private firms. I also gained some valuable insight into one of the most potentially influential tax law cases in recent decades, Moore v. United States, currently pending in the Supreme Court.
